X. “Consequence”
…A heart shattered into nearly unrecognizable pieces.
Tragic because things did not have to be this way
Fear producing insecurity that yields greater fear
An infinite loop growing stronger every second it’s ignored
Passed over as “not a big deal”
Never allowing for proper healing
Poison
Masked in self-condemnation
Paralysis
Disguised in apathy
Unwilling to move for fear of imperfection
Because with the slightest trace of it
You seemed lost forever
And then you were.
So the temptation was to suffocate any further desire
Lock it in a chamber and watch it slowly die
Be rid of any trace so reality wouldn’t have to be faced
Though the truth was
It never had to be this way.
The tragedy is simple
I chose this translucent prison in which I now sit;
A heart, shattered into unrecognizable pieces
By one never meant to hold it to begin with
One unaware of the value possessed
The Love that proved remedy to both poison and paralysis
In being made whole again
Now ready to be released
And in looking back for the final time
Through the walls of this prison
I see
The tragedy was not the lesson learned
Rather that it was learned in such manner.
